we had such an amazing christmas and took so many great pictures that i've kind of had a hard time trying to get everything together. here's a little taste of our wonderful family holiday

i remembered last night that these are some of my favorite flowers.

i saw them outside the grocery and had a wave of memories flood my brain (one doesn't see many of these down south). i had to bring them home and they've made me & the house happy since :)

we started 2010 with a vasilopita, given to us by our sweet neighbors. the vasilopita is a traditional greek new year's day cake in which is hidden a coin or trinket which gives good luck to the receiver. our neighbors, both greek, gave it to us complete with explanation of all the tradition attached to it. we were so excited to share this with them!

snow?

something i didn't know was possible happened this week. central florida and the beaches got sleet and snow.

when the forecast said this:

i thought it was impossible. but i was wrong. weird. we did have 2 weeks of temps in the 20s and 30s.

our plants haven't recovered yet :(

road trip

a little of our sweet christmas road trip with kirst. FL to KY. definitely not your normal road trip. and that's why it was a good one.

a new clean

we are changed people.

okay, maybe that's a bit overkill, but seriously, i had to mention the amazing piece of machinery we picked up yesterday. we'd heard about the wonders of the dyson vacuum but now we've experienced it and WOW!

it is so cool.

let me just say pass on this quote: Hugh - "let me vacuum now!"

choc

hugh went to the store to get some chicken for me the other day and (as usual) came back with something extra. this time, however, it wasn't ice cream or beer, but chocolate! yum.

i opened the box and this:

seriously people, he had no idea that there was a choc with an "H" and one with an "L". no idea! how is that for a random coincidence?! it made my day, that's for sure (well, after a few dozen 'are you sure you didn't know?' 'you didn't pick these out?' 'is this a joke?'comments).

i dont know if ya'll remember our post a few years ago about our lemon/grapefruit mystery (click on the words for the story). here's a update:

last year we had no fruit.

this year we did. lots.

i have no idea what's going on but i like it.
