ridiculous update
the poor little woodpecker friend definitely has something going on in his little head :(
i heard him this morning, a couple little taps, and went to see what he was up to.
he'd moved from the window (i opened the shutters) to the grapefruit tree next to it and was going at it. not on the bark, like you'd think. he was pecking the grapefruit.
tap tap crash
our little household has a bizarre new friend... (i'm being generous with the term)
for the past few days, every now and again i hear a "taptaptaptaptap..." coming from one of the windows. it's never the same window. and it's quite loud. and pretty obvious what it is.
a woodpecker.
on the windows.
at first i thought he had lost it, but i quickly realized that the only windows he was "pecking" were the ones with plantation shutters. poor guy must just be a little slow and thinks that he's actually gotten ahold of some good wood.
yikes.
let's just hope he doesn't ever break the glass...

christmas . spaghetti factory & traditional carriage ride
when kirsten and i were little we used to love the spaghetti factory, a yum restaurant in an old building in downtown louisville. it's beautiful, but the best part about it : the horse carriage that waits outside and takes you on tours of downtown. it's especially nice around christmas, with the decorations and lights up.
we couldn't miss an opportunity to go back in time a little bit.
kirsten and i have photos like this that date back to when we were about 5 & 8
