derby day!

i love the kentucky derby.
such a fun event with such great traditions.  i watch it every year happily. hugh could care less as long as i make derby pie.  he's pretty adamant about that. and faith tried to get her mom to drive her up (over an hour) to our house just so that she could have a piece.

this year's derby day with a lovely group of friends...

my hat, complete with heirloom brooch from granny

none of us picked the winning horse, so kate got the prize for coming in closest to 1st

the kingdom

loveland

a recent trip hugh took out to colorado... he was worried that there wouldn't be enough snow. but these are the pics i got. and this came after the phone call saying that he was stuck in thigh high powder about 30 minutes off the trail (this due to the fact that he couldn't actually see through the snow enough to stay on the trail)

sic 'em

i've been a big slacker on this blog posting business- sorry!! i'm back and i have a catch-up  of pictures to share.

first, and most importantly :), since i last posted my BAYLOR BEARS had a record season!
SIC 'EM!

the men's basketball team cruised through march madness to the elite eight game. it's been years since we've been there and let me tell you, school spirit was high!

i managed to watch all the games! one was even televised locally! has that ever happened?!?  i will admit that many games were watched through the ghetto rig-the-laptop-to-the-TV method and one consisted of me watching on the computer... then trying to find the game on the xm radio in hugh's car -unsuccessfully- then, after picking him up from the airport, i had him drop me off at the hilton nearby so that i could finish watching the super exciting game. a mess, i know.

the whole mcfadden household (and much of the country, i will add!) had baylor basketball fever.

how nice :)

and our lady bears went straight through to the final four

how many presidents do YOU have cheering for your team?

sic 'em bears!
